About the CAEC Social Studies test
The CAEC Social Studies test is one of five subjects on the Canadian Adult Education Credential — the high-school-equivalency credential that replaced the GED in Canada in 2024. This free CAEC Social Studies practice test covers civics, economics, history, and geography, with a step-by-step explanation for every question.
What topics does CAEC Social Studies cover?
One part covering four areas: Citizenship & Government (the largest share), Geography & the Environment, Historical & Contemporary Canada, and Economics & Economic Systems — including First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Francophone governance and contributions. StudyPug covers all of them with adaptive practice and video lessons.
Is CAEC Social Studies hard, and where do learners struggle most?
Most adult learners have gaps in a few specific places — usually the branches and structure of government, interpreting primary sources, and supply-and-demand reasoning. A quick diagnostic finds those gaps, then adaptive CAEC Social Studies practice fills them so you move from stuck to confident.
How is CAEC Social Studies scored?
You need 55% to pass CAEC Social Studies, and each subject is scored independently — so you only retake the subjects you don't pass. Selected-response sections are machine-scored, with results in about two business days. Our practice tracks your readiness by topic.
