About the CAEC Science test
The CAEC Science test is one of five subjects on the Canadian Adult Education Credential — the high-school-equivalency credential that replaced the GED in Canada in 2024. This free CAEC Science practice test covers scientific inquiry, data analysis, and the nature of science, with a step-by-step explanation for every question.
What topics does CAEC Science cover?
One part covering four areas: Scientific Inquiry & Investigation (the largest share), Data Analysis & Interpretation, Nature of Science, and Science, Technology & Society. StudyPug covers all of them with adaptive practice and video lessons.
Is CAEC Science hard, and where do learners struggle most?
Most adult learners have gaps in a few specific places — usually designing a controlled experiment, reading data from graphs and tables, and distinguishing observations from inferences. A quick diagnostic finds those gaps, then adaptive CAEC Science practice fills them so you move from stuck to confident.
How is CAEC Science scored?
You need 55% to pass CAEC Science, and each subject is scored independently — so you only retake the subjects you don't pass. Selected-response sections are machine-scored, with results in about two business days. Our practice tracks your readiness by topic.

CAEC Science — FAQ
We've got answers to some popular questions.
Is this CAEC Science practice test free?
Yes. The CAEC Science sample question and diagnostic preview on this page are free to try. Full access to all video lessons and practice problems requires a StudyPug plan.
What does CAEC Science actually test?
CAEC Science covers: Scientific Inquiry & Investigation (45%), Data Analysis & Interpretation (25%), Nature of Science (15%), Science, Technology & Society (15%).
What score do I need to pass?
You need at least 55% to pass CAEC Science. The test has 35 questions, 90 minutes.
Is the CAEC the same as the GED?
The CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential) replaced the GED in Canada and covers similar subject areas, but it is a distinct test with its own format, question types, and scoring. StudyPug's CAEC prep is built specifically around the CAEC blueprint.
