The only funded route in the country, in three steps.

Be accepted by an associate board before the September count to qualify for that funding year.

Keep receipts for eligible learning purchases and submit them to your board. Confirm eligibility with yours before you buy.

Every program asks you to show the learning. Hours, work samples and progress reports are what a claim is made of.

Canada Mostly Does Not Fund Homeschooling
Outside Alberta — and a handful of Saskatchewan school divisions — a full-time home-schooled child isn't in any school enrollment register, so no per-student money follows them home. That is the law, not a gap in what we offer. What you can still do: use the province guide to keep the records your board may ask for, and claim any expense your own tax situation allows — confirm with an accountant.

Is there any homeschool funding in Canada?
Alberta is the only province with a program that pays families directly. Elsewhere there is no per-student funding for home-schooled children.
Can I claim homeschool costs on my taxes?
There is no federal homeschool credit. Some costs may qualify under other provisions depending on your situation — confirm with an accountant.
How much does Alberta pay?
$901 per student per year is the parent's portion on the supervised track, paid in full if you submit receipts for at least 75% of eligible expenses. ECS is $450.50. Confirmed for the 2025-26 funding year; re-confirm each year.
Do I buy first and then claim?
On the supervised track you submit receipts to your associate board. Many boards treat online curriculum subscriptions as eligible — confirm with yours before you buy.
What about the territories?
Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are not covered by this page — we have not reviewed their rules.
Which provinces have guides so far?
Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. Every other province shows its name and nothing else until its guide clears legal review.
