Surface Area and Volume of a Sphere
A sphere's surface area and volume both depend only on its radius, with no flat net.
What You'll Learn
A sphere is perfectly round: every surface point is the same distance (radius r) from the center.
Surface area = 4 times pi times r squared.
Volume = four-thirds times pi times r cubed.
A sphere has no flat net; its curved surface cannot be unrolled flat.
Both formulas use only the radius, unlike a cone which also needs height or slant height.
