CAEC FAQ
We've got answers to some popular questions.
What is the CAEC test?
The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) is a high school equivalency credential recognized across Canada. It replaced the GED in Canada and tests your knowledge across five subjects: Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. StudyPug covers four of these subjects — Writing prep is coming soon. Passing gives you the same opportunities as a high school diploma.
How much does the CAEC cost?
Test fees vary by province. The CAEC is free in several provinces (including Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia); other provinces charge from $6 to $80 per subject. Check with your provincial testing centre for exact pricing.
How is the test structured?
The CAEC has five subjects: Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. Each subject is taken as a separate test. The total testing time is approximately 7.5 hours across all five subjects. Tests are computer-based and available at authorized testing centres across Canada. StudyPug currently offers prep for Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Social Studies.
Can I retake if I don't pass?
Yes, you can retake individual subjects you didn't pass without retaking the ones you did. Retake policies and waiting periods vary by province. StudyPug's targeted practice helps you identify and focus on weak areas before your next attempt.
What score do I need to pass?
You need to score at least 55% on each subject to pass. Each subject is scored independently, so you only need to retake the subjects you didn't pass. Our practice tests track your score so you know when you're ready.
What is the difference between StudyPug pricing plans?
StudyPug offers three plans: Monthly (C$25.00/mo), 6-Month (C$13.17/mo billed as C$79), and Annual (C$9.92/mo billed as C$119). All plans include unlimited access to video lessons, practice problems, and progress tracking for all four CAEC subjects. The longer the plan, the more you save.
