Imaginary zeros of polynomials

Based on the quadratic formula $\frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {{b^2} - 4ac} }}{{2a}}$ , non-real roots occur when the discriminant, ${b^2} - 4ac$ , is negative. Non-real roots always occur in pairs.
