Number sequences
Lessons
Number Sequence is a list of numbers that are in order. These numbers usually have a pattern. For example,
1,3,5,7,9,...
You can see that if you add 2 each time, then you will get the next number. So "adding 2" is the pattern.
- IntroductionNumber Sequences Overview:a)What are number sequences? How do you find the pattern?b)Using the variable expression
- 1.Patterns of Linear/Quadratic Sequences
Find the missing number(s) in the following sequences:a)1, 4, 7, 10, ___b)0, 3, 6, ___, 12, 15c)2, 4, 6, ___, ___, ___d)37, 34, 31, ___, ___, ___e)1, ___, 6, 10, 15, ___f)1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, ___, ___ - 2.Patterns of Non-Linear Sequences Find the missing number(s) in the following sequences:a)1, 10, 100, ___, 10000b)2, 4, ___, 16, 32,___c)1, 3, ___, ___, 81, 243d)1.5, 3, 6, ___, 24, ___e)625, 125, 25, ___, ___,
- 3.Number Sequences with Variable Expressions
You are given a sequence in a form of a variable expression, where n is the location of the term in the sequence. Find the first five terms using the variable expression. Start with n=1 .a)3n+2b)−2n+4c)n−4d)4n−2 - 4.Word Problems of Sequences
The first bus picks up 13 passengers, the second bus picks up 20 passengers, and the third bus picks up 27 passengers. How many passengers are on the fourth and fifth bus? - 5.An apple farm plants 1 apple tree on Monday, 3 apple trees on Tuesday, 27 apple trees on Thursday, and 81 apple trees on Friday. How many apples did they grow on Wednesday?
