Discover Our Amazing World with Globes!

You will learn about globes as round models of Earth and discover how they help you explore countries and oceans around the world.

Introduction

You will discover amazing tools that help you explore our whole world! A globe is a special round ball that shows you what Earth looks like from space. When you spin a globe, you can find where elephants live in Africa or where penguins waddle in cold places. You will also learn about Reading Simple Maps and see how flat maps are different from round globes.

What Is a Globe?

A globe is a round ball that shows our whole planet Earth. You can hold it in your hands and spin it around just like our real Earth spins in space. When you look at a globe, you see all the land and water on our planet at the same time.

You might find globes in your classroom, library, or at home. They help you see where different countries are and where oceans flow around the world. You can point to where you live and find faraway places too!

How Globes Are Different From Maps

Globes are round like balls, but maps are flat like pieces of paper. Both show you the same Earth, just in different ways. You can spin a globe to see all sides, but a flat map shows everything at once.

Maps hang on walls or lie flat on tables. You will learn more about Reading Simple Maps and discover how they show places from above, like looking down from an airplane.
