Create Your Personal Timeline and Tell Your Life Story
You will learn how to put the important events in your life in order from when you were born until now.
Introduction
You have many special moments in your life! A personal timeline helps you put these important events in order from when you were born until now. You can use pictures, memories, and stories to create your own life timeline that shows how you have grown and changed.
What Is Your Personal Timeline?
Your personal timeline is like a special story about your life. You start with when you were born as a tiny baby. Then you add other important events like learning to walk, your first birthday, and starting school.
When you make a timeline, you put events in order by time. The oldest things that happened long ago go first. The newest things that happened recently go last. This helps you see how you have grown from a baby to the big kid you are now!
Important Events in Your Life
You have many special events to include in your personal timeline. Your birth is always first because that's when your life story began. Then you can add when you learned to crawl, walk, and talk.
Other important events might include your first birthday party, losing your first tooth, or your first day of school. You can also include special family times like holidays or trips. Each event shows how you have grown and learned new things!
Key Terms & Definitions
Timeline: A timeline is a way to show events in the order they happened, like putting your life story in a line from first to last.
Memory Book: A memory book is a special book where you keep pictures and stories about important times in your life.
Before: Before means something happened earlier in time, like how you were a baby before you learned to walk.
After: After means something happened later in time, like how you ate cake after you blew out your birthday candles.
First: First means the very beginning or what happened earliest, like being born is first in your life timeline.
Last: Last means at the end or what happened most recently, like your most recent birthday comes last in your timeline.
Order: Order means putting things in the right sequence, like arranging your life events from oldest to newest.
Making Your Own Timeline
You can create your own personal timeline using photos and memories! Start by finding pictures of yourself as a baby. These go at the beginning because they show when you were youngest.
Next, look for pictures of you learning new things like walking or riding a bike. Put these in the middle of your timeline. Finally, add recent pictures of you now. These go at the end because they show how big you are today!
Related Topics & Connections
Your personal timeline connects to many other topics you will learn about. Then and Now helps you compare how you looked and acted as a baby versus how you are today.
You will also explore Changes Over Time to see how you have grown bigger and learned new skills. Family Members and Roles shows you the important people in your life timeline, while Family Traditions helps you understand special events your family celebrates together.
After learning about your personal timeline, you will practice Timeline Creation and Sequencing Events to get even better at putting things in order. You will also learn about Family Artifacts and Historical Photos to discover more about your family's story.
Getting Started
You don't need to know anything special before learning about your personal timeline! You already know about your own life and can remember some things that happened to you. This makes you ready to start organizing your memories and creating your life story.
