What Is Communication?

Communication means sharing ideas, feelings, and information with other people. You can communicate by talking, writing, or drawing pictures. You communicate every day when you talk to friends and family.

Ways You Can Communicate

You can communicate in many ways. You can wave to greet someone nearby. You can draw pictures to show your ideas. You can call someone far away on a telephone. You can write words and letters to send messages.

Sender: The sender is the person who shares a message with someone else.

Receiver: The receiver is the person who listens and understands the message.

Express Yourself: To express yourself means to share your feelings and thoughts with others.

Good Communication Skills

Good communication uses many skills. You listen carefully to understand others. You speak to share your thoughts and feelings. You take turns talking so everyone gets a fair chance to share ideas.

Good listening means looking at the speaker and staying quiet. This shows you are paying attention. You can practice your Listening Skills to become a better communicator.
